Modeling
where & when

From clothing presentation to global image-making, modeling developed into a profession shaped by presence, photography, and cultural change.

1853

The beginning of professional modeling

Charles Frederick Worth asked his wife, Marie Vernet Worth, to model the clothing he designed, establishing an early foundation for modeling as a profession.

PHOTO MODELING

A new visual language

As photography developed, models became an essential part of showing fashion and communicating a look beyond the garment itself.

1946 · NEW YORK

The rise of the agency

The establishment of Ford Models in New York marked an important moment in the organization and professional growth of the modeling industry.

Modeling
in our country

Modeling was introduced in Ethiopia after 1950 and has continued to develop through changing creative, commercial, and cultural landscapes.

The school material discusses Amelework Tesfaye and the development of modeling in Ethiopia, including the different roles models take on: advertising models, clothing models, and stage models.

As attitudes evolve, opportunities for modeling training continue to grow. Education creates space for aspiring models to understand the discipline and professional standards of the field.
